The majority of men treat shaving as a chore but there are a few easy tips you can take to make the daily shaving routine a more skin friendly-experience .

Whilst quick, electric shavers always feel harsh on the skin and have a tendency to pull facial hair. If you must use an electric shaver, also use a pre-shave lotion to soften the hair first. However a wet shave is by far the best way to get the closest shave possible that will leave your skin feeling soft and gentle.

Pre-shave

Pre-shave treatments assist in swelling facial hair follicles and soften skin. This makes for a much smoother, easier shaving experience with fewer nicks, cuts and much less soreness.

Shaving Oils

Care should be taken not to confuse shaving oils with pre-shave oils. Pre-shave oils act as a layer between the face and shaving cream or gel. When a man uses shaving oil, they don’t use anything else.

It is sometimes claimed that whereas shaving gel or foam will cause nicks and burns, shaving oil never do this. A few drops cover the man’s entire face, so even a small container will last a long time. Because of this, shaving oil is an excellent product to buy in order to travel with.

Shaving Creams

Shaving cream can be applied to the face with fingertips or a shaving brush. It is used to create plentiful, lubricating foam that softens and moisturises the man’s skin. This allows for greater slide across the man’s face and therefore facilitates shaving in a soft and cut free manner.
