Gene Meyer is a popular American designer who is well known for his great eye for colour, but it's not always about colour. He loves to design geometric patterns, but sometimes one line or one circle is enough. Mostly he loves to nudge and sometimes shove menswear in a new more provocative way.

Gene Meyer graduated from Parson's School of design and worked for Donna Karan at the Anne Klein studio designing fashion accessories. He then became Geoffery Beene's design assisitant, working with him for over ten years. Gene started designing his own distinctive ties and mens socks under the Gene Meyer New York label in 1991. Since then he has twice won a CFDA award (American Fashion Award) for his menswear collections - one in 1994 for Mens accessories and one in 1996 for CFDA Perry Ellis Award for New Talent.

His ties and mens socks are now famous, and are worn (as well as collected) by many people worldwide. Gene Meyer socks and ties have a big following in the UK and are stocked by Liberty of London and Anthony of Cambridge plus other selective and discerning outlets. Furthermore in 2005 Gene Meyer designed an exclusive line of men's and women's clothing for Marshall Fields department store.
